Expertise. Reliability. Integrity.
If your teeth aren’t straight, orthodontics alone may not be enough to fix the problem. Where the root source lies in your upper and lower jaws not meeting correctly, corrective surgery (orthognathic surgery) may be necessary.
By surgically repositioning your misaligned jaw, our surgeons partner with your orthodontist to ensure your overall treatment provides the long-term, sustainable improvements you desire such as straight teeth that meet and function properly and an improved facial appearance.
The growth of jaw bone is a gradual process and, for some, the pace of growth in the upper and lower jaws is different resulting in a misalignment.
If not adequately addressed, over time this may negatively affect your speech, how you chew your food, physical appearance, and long-term oral health.
If you currently suffer from one or more of the following you may be a candidate for jaw surgery:
The first step in receiving proper treatment is to visit your family dentist or orthodontist for an initial examination and referral to CVOS Oral Surgery.
Once referred to CVOS Oral Surgery, you will sit down with your surgeon to discuss the procedure, any options available to you, and what to expect as an outcome.
Our surgeons and staff understand that surgery can be scary. We want to make sure you have an opportunity to have all of your questions answered so that you feel positive and confident in your decision to proceed with the procedure.
To provide you with the most favourable outcome, your surgeon will plan your procedure digitally, using 3D imaging, that will allow for a more accurate modeling of how your bite will be improved and how you will look after your surgery.
Following your surgery, you will also receive important information regarding your recovery, pain minimization, and follow up.
To receive your initial consultation with one of our oral surgeons, please contact your family dentist and ask to be referred.
