Dr. Barakat completed his undergraduate studies at the Université de Montréal earning his D.M.D. degree. He then performed his postgraduate studies at the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago to further advance his knowledge of general dentistry. Following that, he completed his post-graduate studies in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Loyola University. Prior to moving to Oakville, Dr. Barakat maintained a private practice in Montreal and also maintained privileges at the Jewish General Hospital. Dr. Barakat is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Barakat maintains full privileges at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga where he performs the more involved procedures including orthognathic surgery, the treatment of pathology of the maxillofacial region, and facial reconstructions post-trauma.
Dr. Barakat enjoys cycling, scuba diving, and spending quality time with his wife and four children.
