Dr. Listrom obtained his dental qualification from the University of Saskatchewan. This was followed by a general practice residency at the University Hospital in Saskatoon. After two more years of general practice, he entered oral surgery training at the University of Toronto, where he completed his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anaesthesia in 1981. He was awarded a University of Toronto Fellowship in 1982 and a Medical Research Council Fellowship from 1982–1984. In 1984, Dr. Listrom obtained his Master of Science degree by thesis in the field of bone biology from the University of Toronto. He was part of the teaching staff in the resident training program in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at that university for over 20 years, the last 10 of those years as an assistant professor. He continues to teach part-time and is a clinical instructor in the Oral Surgery and Prosthodontic postgraduate clinics at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry.

He is the former head of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Credit Valley Hospital and he retains staff appointments at Trillium Health Partners (Credit Valley, Trillium, and Queensway Hospitals), Halton Health Care (Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital), and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab Hospital.

Dr. Listrom has been involved with implant-related research and teaching since the introduction of osseointegrated implants in North America. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectures on implant-related topics locally, nationally, and internationally, He is one of the first Canadian Fellows of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and is the director of the Mississauga-Oakville ITI Study Club.

Dr. Peter Hodgson attended the University of Toronto for his undergraduate degree, receiving his Bachelor of Science in 1979. He then attended the same University for his Doctor of Dental Surgery, which was conferred in 1983. After a one-year internship at the Toronto General Hospital, he completed his post-graduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anaesthesia at the University of Toronto in 1987. Subsequent to this, Dr. Hodgson participated in a part-time teaching position in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto for 10 years.

Dr. Kienle completed his undergraduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, where he obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science degree with distinction in 1992. He was awarded the gold medal for the most distinguished student in oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology, the most distinguished academic record, clinical fixed prosthodontics, operative dentistry, as well as the most distinguished dental graduate of the year. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the same institution in 1997 and obtained his Fellowship to the College of Dentistry, South Africa.

He then completed a six-month fellowship in orthognathic surgery under Professor J.P. Reyneke at the Centre for Orthognathic Surgery, Johannesburg. A one-year fellowship was accomplished in 1999 at the University of Toronto, after which Dr. Kienle obtained his Fellowship to the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Ho completed his dental training at the University of Toronto. He then completed a hospital dental residency jointly at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Chicago. Dr. Ho returned to the University of Toronto for his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia. Dr. Ho has taken post-graduate medical education in sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Ho has focused expertise in the area of obstructive sleep apnea as well as CT-based 3D treatment planning for dental implants, corrective jaw surgery and airway size determination. Dr. Ho’s 3D treatment planning expertise has allowed him to participate as a lecturer, legal consultant, and professional resource to other dental specialists performing their own surgery. Dr. Ho founded the CVOS Oral Surgery Sleep Treatment Clinic in 2009.

The clinic has been a trusted provider of coordinated care between dentists, family physicians, sleep physicians, and CPAP providers for 6 years. Dr. Ho’s facial airway imaging technology and deep knowledge of both surgical and non-surgical solutions in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea allow patients to have individualized solutions to their sleep breathing problems. For those that have failed CPAP and oral appliances in the past, Dr. Ho has developed a maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) procedure that does not require the patient to wear braces and has successfully cured patients of their obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Ho has access to level 3 home sleep testing that does not require the patient to visit a sleep lab. Dr. Ho is currently involved in research and product development in the area of obstructive sleep apnea treatment, implant surgical navigation, and 3D printing.

Dr. Barakat completed his undergraduate studies at the Université de Montréal earning his D.M.D. degree. He then performed his postgraduate studies at the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago to further advance his knowledge of general dentistry. Following that, he completed his post-graduate studies in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Loyola University. Prior to moving to Oakville, Dr. Barakat maintained a private practice in Montreal and also maintained privileges at the Jewish General Hospital. Dr. Barakat is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Barakat maintains full privileges at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga where he performs the more involved procedures including orthognathic surgery, the treatment of pathology of the maxillofacial region, and facial reconstructions post-trauma.

Dr. Barakat enjoys cycling, scuba diving, and spending quality time with his wife and four children.

Dr. Steven Leung was born in Toronto and subsequently moved to the United States after completing his high school education in Toronto. After completing only 2 years of undergraduate studies, he was accepted into Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Upon achieving his dental degree (DDS) in 2003, Dr. Leung underwent a surgical internship at the University of Pennsylvania and then pursued his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Case Western Reserve University while also obtaining his degree in medicine (MD). Dr. Leung is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Leung’s areas of interest include extracting wisdom teeth, placing dental implants, and bone grafting procedures. He enjoys being able to provide IV and deep sedation for anxious patients requiring oral surgery procedures.

In his free time, Dr. Leung likes to play tennis and is an avid traveller.

Dr. Kodsi grew up in Toronto where he completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Toronto, graduating with high distinction. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with distinction from the University of Western Ontario, completing all years with honours and graduating with awards in prosthodontics and pediatric dentistry. He went on to continue his training at the University of British Columbia in a one-year hospital-based dental residency program with advanced training in all aspects of dentistry including clinical and didactic training in conscious sedation.

After practicing in the Greater Toronto Area for several years as a general practitioner with a focus on oral surgery, Dr. Kodsi went on to complete a full-scope specialty training program in oral & maxillofacial surgery at McGill University which included extensive training in all aspects of oral & maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, orthognathic surgery with virtual planning, treatment of maxillofacial trauma, oral pre-prosthetic and implant surgery, head and neck pathology, maxillofacial oncology and reconstructive surgery, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, deep sedation, and general anesthesia.

Dr. Kodsi is a certified provider of Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and all levels of anesthesia including deep sedation and general anesthesia. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, maintains a specialty license with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and is a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Ontario Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, and the ITI International Team for Implantology.

Dr. Olivia Lo grew up in Vancouver, but moved to Ontario where she completed her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at McGill University in Montreal, graduating in the top 3 of her class. She then returned to the West Coast and completed a one-year hospital-based general practice residency program at the University of British Columbia where she was given the award in anesthesia for excelling in their didactic conscious sedation training program. After practicing as a general dentist for a year, she subsequently returned to Montreal to pursue her specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at McGill University which incorporated extensive training in all aspects of the field including dentoalveolar surgery, implant and pre-prosthetic surgery, orthognathic and cleft and craniofacial surgery, trauma and reconstruction, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, head and neck pathology/oncology, and sedation and anesthesia.

Throughout her studies, Dr. Lo has also had the opportunity to travel to Haida Gwaii, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Mexico to provide care to underserved communities. She is also fluent in English, French, and Cantonese. In her spare time, she likes to play volleyball and tennis and—true to her West Coast roots—loves the outdoors.

Dr. K. Perschbacher completed her degrees in Physiology and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario. She then completed an internship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario.

Her specialty training in oral pathology and oral medicine was obtained at the University of Toronto, where she also completed her MSc research on biomarker expression in salivary duct carcinoma. Dr. Perschbacher is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentistry of Canada and a member of the Canadian and American Academy of Oral Pathology. She has presented her research at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology meeting in San Diego, California. The majority of Dr. Perschbacher’s time is spent seeing patients in private oral pathology and oral medicine practice at CVOS Oral Surgery. She also teaches in the undergraduate oral pathology and postgraduate oral radiology programs at the University of Toronto. Dr. Perschbacher is an oral examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Kanan Dave is a board-certified oral medicine specialist with interest and clinical experience in providing dental care to medically compromised patients, diagnosing complex pain cases, and mucocutaneous lesions.

She is currently a full-time assistant professor in oral medicine at Schulich School of Dentistry- University of Western Ontario-London. Dr. Dave completed her oral medicine specialty training at the University of Toronto. Dr. Dave completed her MSc at the University of Toronto and her research expertise is in oral pre-cancer and cancer, the novel methods of detection, and the future of targeted therapy in pre-cancer.

She has presented her research at a joint meeting of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (AAOMP) and the International Association of Oral Pathology (IAOP) where she won the prize for best poster. Prior to this, she obtained her dental degree and Master’s in Dental Surgery (Oral Medicine and Radiology) from Gujarat University. She attained postgraduate diplomas in Advanced Clinical Research (PGDACR) and Hospital Management (PGDHM), through which she explored her interests in clinical research and management. 

Dr. Dave is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentistry of Canada and a member of the Canadian and American Academy of Oral Medicine & Pathology.

Dr. Elias received his dental and OMFS training both in Canada and the United States. His experience, first as Chief OMFS Resident at the University of Toronto and then as an Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Trauma Fellow at the central Level 1 trauma centre in Portland, Oregon, has provided Dr. Elias with extensive experience in the assessment, management, and treatment of complex facial trauma, oncologic surgery, facial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, TMJ surgery, and advanced soft tissue/bony reconstruction.

Upon his return to Canada, Dr. Elias began working at an OMFS clinic in southwestern Ontario before returning to the GTA to serve it’s incredible oral healthcare community.
